The Attorney General informed the Supreme Court today (02) that the Cabinet has recommended awarding free marks to all students who appeared for the first paper of the recently concluded Grade 5 Scholarship Examination to address the issue of three omitted questions.
Solicitor General Viraj Dayaratne stated that the Cabinet deemed it inappropriate to hold the examination again, as it could cause undue hardship to students.
This update was provided during the hearing of Fundamental Rights petitions challenging the conduct of the examination. Additionally, the Solicitor General noted that the Attorney General has requested the petitions be heard before a full bench of Supreme Court judges.
The court ordered that the petitions be taken up for hearing on December 11.
