Registration for the 2026 Diversity Visa Program will open today, October 2, at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) until November 7, 2024 12:00 p.m. EST. This program allows people from countries with low U.S. immigration rates, who meet eligibility requirements, to apply for a chance to receive a U.S. immigrant visa. dvprogram.state.gov is the ONLY way to enter. What is the Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery Programme?
The Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery Programme is administered by the US Department of State. The DV Lottery program grants 55,000 Permanent Resident cards each year to individuals world-wide.
When can I apply for DV (Green Card) Lottery 2025?
Registration for the US Green Card Lottery 2024 is from October 02, 2024 to November 05, 2024 at 12 noon EST.
What are the requirements for DV Lottery 2026?

Photo Requirements
▪️Background:
Light-colored & plain
▪️Head Position:
Your head must not be tilted up, down, / to the side. Face only the camera.
▪️Head Size:
The face must represent between 50% & 69% of the total height of the photo
▪️Exposure:
The photo must not be overexposed / underexposed. Shadows must not be visible.
▪️Head Coverings:
Are not permitted except for religious reasons.
▪️Digital Image Alterations:
It should be avoided. A modified background can influence the shape of the head.
▪️The Face:
Must not be covered by hair & facial expression should be neutral.
▪️Photo Color:
No black & white photos. High-quality color photos only accepted.
▪️Glasses: Glasses are not allowed.
▪️Photo Size: 51 x 51 mm
▪️File Size: Maximum 240 KB
▪️File Format: JPEG format
▪️Resolution: 600 x 600 pixels (300 dpi)
▪️Note:
The photo must not be older than 6 months. It should be reflect the current look. Don’t use Photos of previous DV Lotteries.

How to Apply
Registration is totally free. There is No fee to submit an Entry. All entries should be submitted through online system via Department of State. Late, Incomplete / paper submissions will not be accepted. Only 01 entry per person should be submitted. Submitting more than 01 entry will result in disqualification. Spouses may submit separate entries.
Ten Tips for the 2026 Diversity (Green Card) Visa Lottery
Tip 1: Read the instructions at dvprogram.state.gov to find out if you qualify. Don’t enter if you do not meet the qualifications.
Tip 2: Only rely on US government websites. Sites ending in “.gov” are the only official source of DV 2026 information.
Tip 3: Go to dvprogram.state.gov to submit your entry. This is the Only way to enter. Don’t be fooled by scams or fraudulent sites.
Tip 4: There is No fee to enter. Beware of those who claim they can improve your chances if you pay them / who offer to complete your application for free.
Tip 5: Use a photo taken in the last 06 months. Using an old photo will disqualify you.
Tip 6: Only submit 01 entry per person. Individuals with more than one primary entry per DV season will be disqualified.
Tip 7: Remember to list your spouse & All unmarried children under the age of 21 in your application, even if they will not be traveling / immigrating with you. Incorrect or missing information in your entry can mean disqualification – even after you are selected.
Tip 8: Keep your unique confirmation number. You will need this to check the status of the entry when selections are made in 2025 May.
Tip 9: Selections will be made in May 2025. The website dvprogram.state.gov/ESC is the ONLY way to see if you were selected. Don’t be fooled by any letter / e-mail announcements; these are scams.
Tip 10: Remember, being selected doesn’t guarantee you an interview / a visa
