Special discussion on arrangements for conducting interviews to recruit graduates to the Sri Lanka Teachers Service
With the results of the competitive examination conducted to recruit graduates to the Sri Lanka Teachers Service about to be released, a special discussion to examine the arrangements for conducting interviews to be carried out in the next phase in accordance with the Cabinet decision was held at the Governor’s Secretariat today (08.09.2026) Tuesday under the chairmanship of the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Wethanayagan.
With a view to filling the teacher vacancies existing in national and provincial schools in the country, the Cabinet had granted approval to recruit 23,344 graduates to the Sri Lanka Teachers Service. Based on this, a competitive examination was conducted to fill the teacher vacancies for Sinhala, Tamil and English medium schools.
In accordance with the Cabinet decision, issues including inviting graduates who qualify for interviews based on examination results and the procedures for conducting interviews were discussed in detail. The Governor directed that preparatory measures be taken to carry out these without delay.
The Chairman of the Provincial Public Service Commission, Secretary to the Governor, Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Secretary to the Provincial Public Service Commission, Deputy Chief Secretary – Administration for the Chief Secretary, Provincial Director of Education, Special Secretary to the Governor, and Assistant Secretary to the Governor participated in this discussion.
