Circulars are issued every year with recommendations regarding the admission of students to Grade 1 in government schools, and their objective is to make necessary arrangements to ensure equal access to education, transparency and reduce irregularities.

The new circular has been prepared taking into account the views and suggestions of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption, the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka, principals and education officials, and also focusing on the new education reform.

Accordingly, the Cabinet has approved the proposal submitted by the Hon. Prime Minister, as the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Training, to issue a new circular containing provisions and recommendations for the admission of students to government schools from 2027 onwards.
