The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government states that there are currently about 3000 Grama Niladhari vacancies.

Minister Professor Chandana Abeyratne stated that due to this, Grama Niladharis have had to work in several divisions.

He also stated that taking into account the prevailing situation, steps will be taken to fill those vacancies promptly.

Meanwhile, the Minister also stated that steps will be taken to provide prompt solutions to several issues including the Grama Niladhari Service, Constitution.

He stated that discussions have already begun with trade union representatives for this purpose.
